An oval dish is painted with red flowers, palm leaves and a blue mountain line. The colours run into the glaze during the firing.
Robin Quinn paints each dish by hand, so the flowers differ from piece to piece.
Exclusive Robin makes carved and glazed relief tiles, and hand-painted panels in black and white. Her work looks at pattern and repetition, often starting from textiles, flowers or the sea. Born in Glasgow, she moved to Almaty in 2016 and runs a small ceramics studio with her partner.
A dark wall makes every frame look sharper and turns the wall itself into part of the display.
A group exhibition of ceramics at Focus Gallery in Almaty. The opening night is on 6 November at 18:00, and everyone is welcome to attend.
A solo exhibition by Adam Schwartz. His large painted dishes and bowls show figures that float, climb and tangle in half-remembered landscapes.
Watch the potters at work in the Almaty studio and see new pieces up close.
